Representation Analysis

Tide- From the composition of the background it is clear that the actor is living in a middle class to the upper-class house. Although they wanted their child to be girly by using the colors pink she stands out as the daughter is wearing a cargo hoodie and shorts because she gets "dirty" most likely describing her as a tomboy. The target audience is clear to anyone who has a family member or child who likes to get their clothes dirty and get the rough stains out. The representation within the commercial is targeted towards the middle to upper-class families who can relate to the situation where they have someone indeed get dirty and are in need of getting the stains out. The possible reaction to an audience watching this is they would ask them selfs or fall in conscience that they might have messy family members who are in need of getting through stains out and the tide seems like a great option from the way it was perceived in the commercial.

H&M- Multiple groups of ethnicities and races were represented through the duration of the video which developed a wide range of representations among people further developing the idea of how fashion has no rules. The social class could be any class above the lower middle because most of the clothes displayed seemed to be of better material even in the "trashy" style. This commercial represented all age groups furthering the idea that fashion has no rules and developing an idea to abrogate the oppressive mentality that women over 30 or 40 cant wear skirts or that men cant socks and slippers don't go together.
