Music Marketing BLOG POSTTT!

It's been a while, hasn't it? Welcome back!

In class, we're working on a brand new project about music marketing.

We started out in the class as our group got to pick one out of four songs which genres revolve around Rock, alt Rock, Indie Rock. Our discussion after listening to the songs revolved around which ones made more sense to use or represent our artist in the near future. We decided to chose "so caught up" by The Teskey Brothers an alternative rock that we thought would make a great story in our upcoming music video.

Soon after that came the research aspect. During class, I worked diligently to ensure that our group would come out with the best grade possible. After I did the due diligence of searching up a few rock companies my final two choices were Ivy league records and GlassNote music. We decided to split up the work. Jewels and Paulina split up the last two columns (case studies) from ivy leagues while William decided to do the history and roster of the company. I took upon myself the responsibility of doing half the work or one full chart. During this time it was challenging to find the history of Glassnote, but once I started connecting the dots and information from multiple sources, I was able to put the information together and come up with solid information. The roster and artist was the easiest part of the research because it was given in the company website. The case studies were also quite easy because there was a superfluous amount of information pertaining to distribution and marketing like their platforms and ways of advertisement. The process of finding the information was a tedious process which took more than two hours to get enough credible information because most of the information found was from magazines, blogs, and other unreliable sources. But sooner than later I was able to find credible information.

Earlier today we had to go through the process of going through the second part of the media marketing project.

It was a bit of a struggle getting started because no one would talk, but once our teacher got into the room we got the ball rolling. Paulina and I were the main workers within this part of the project as Pau and I worked on questions 1-3 and made up background information for our new artist. I took charge and had to tell William and jewel's to do four and five then once I finished we made a column for challenges for marketing which we discussed and filled out. While discussing our artist we thought that the best choice of action to distribute or promote his music was through popular social media platforms which is easy to go viral like Tiktok and Instagram which there are millions of user daily. We have yet to come up with a name for our artist but it shall be arriving soon!

The availability of teams made it really easy to brainstorm ideas once we got the ball rolling. Paulina and I communicated our ideas about our artist and how his past defined his music production in the future. We also came up with multiple ideas for how he is going to market and present himself online with the little input we got from the other two it helps the group tie everything together for our artist. Hopefully, this upcoming Sunday morning will be able to bang out our storyboard then continue to the production of our film!

This is Marcos logging off! See you next time!
